What takes your energy & what gives you energy?

Understanding what gives and takes our energy is crucial for maintaining overall well-being and achieving a balanced life.

By recognising the sources that energise us, such as fulfilling activities, supportive relationships, and self-care practices, we can prioritise and cultivate habits that nourish our physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

Conversely, identifying energy-draining factors, such as stressors, negative relationships, and unhealthy habits, allows us to implement boundaries and make necessary changes to protect our vitality.

Awareness of our energy dynamics empowers us to make informed choices about how we allocate our time, resources, and attention, ensuring that we invest in activities and relationships that align with our values and goals.

Ultimately, cultivating mindfulness around our energy flow enables us to live authentically, with greater resilience, vitality, and fulfilment in all aspects of our lives.

Therefore it is essential for our personal well being to understand what it is that lights us up and gives us energy, versus what drains us and takes our energy.

I have created a simple exercise to help you figure out what is giving and what is taking your energy. Simply download my worksheet, print it out, grab a highlighter and start working through the list. If you see something that lights you up, highlight it, if you see something that you know takes your energy, highlight it in a different colour.

By the end you will have a much better understanding of what helps you in your life and what hurts you.

From there the plan is simple. Do more of the good stuff and less of the bad.

Sounds easy right? Well it is, if you take the time to do the work.

This exercise is one of the many that we use on my Reconnect-to-Self retreat.
